Hello everybody. Here I am trying to write the record of my day, with a life a little more hectic than other days, and comment on one of the ephemeris of #History for today, a celebration that really brings back memories. Let's start with the everyday commentary, well, I've had quite a few power outages and the internet signal has been down longer than up, but at least I still have intermittent service, that's better than the days that leave me more than 12 hours in the dark. One in today's Venezuela cannot be very bitter about these things, they are going to happen without one being able to remedy them, so it is time to resign yourself a bit and try to stay afloat with what you can.
As you can see, there is not a very good mood in this narrating about the details of my day, so let's move on to comment on the date and its history, so as not to make the publication loaded with negative emotions due to problems I have today in my life. Today is 'World Tree Day', a date that is established to exalt the importance of this type of #vegetable organism for the functioning of most of the #ecosystems in our world, well, at least the ecosystems in which humans we develop

Hola a todo el mundo. Acá estoy tratando de redactar el registro de mi día, con una vida un poco más agitada que otros días, y comentar una de las efemérides de la #Historia para el día de hoy, una celebración que de verdad me trae recuerdos. Comencemos con el comentario de la vida cotidiana, bien, he tenido bastantes interrupciones del servicio de electricidad y la señal de Internet ha estado más tiempo caída que funcionando, pero por lo menos aún tengo servicio intermitente, eso es mejor que los días que me dejan más de 12 horas a oscuras. Uno en la #Venezuela actual no puede amargarse mucho por estas cosas, van a suceder sin que uno pueda remediarlas, así que toca resignarse un poco y tratar de seguir a flote con lo que se pueda.
Como puedes ver, no hay un muy buen ánimo en esto de narrar sobre los detalles de mi día, así que mejor pasemos a comentar sobre la fecha y su historia, para no hacer que la publicación sea cargada de emociones negativas por problemas que tengo hoy en mi #vida. Hoy el ‘Día Mundial del Árbol’ una fecha que se establece para enaltecer la importancia de este tipo de organismo #vegetal para el funcionamiento de la mayoría de los #ecosistemas de nuestro mundo, bueno, por lo menos los ecosistemas en los que los humanos nos desenvolvemos.

The celebration of the trees, or of the forests in other latitudes, is a date that can be found on different calendar dates, depending on the country in which one is. In the particular case of Venezuela, 'Arbor Day' is celebrated on the last Sunday of May, but more as a national or local date. I seem to remember that in general, in a good part of Latin America, the celebration of the International Day in question is today. At least, that is what I saw in a list of events for this day that a Mexican friend publishes daily, in another of the social networks in which we interact.
Reviewing history a bit, I was surprised to read that the date of the first celebration of a day intended to highlight the importance of trees is of #Spanish origin, at the height of the great Spanish empire, which had overseas territories in at least four continents. According to records, it was in 1805, in Villanueva de la Sierra (Cáceres, Spain), where the parish priest Ramón Vacas Rojo proposed celebrating a day as a tribute to the #trees. In fact, after reviewing a bit, I discovered that the Spanish empire was quite advanced in terms of #forest conservation, it happens that in previous decades it had been suffering from deforestation, both due to the increase in population centers and the rise of the construction of ships for exploration and trade voyages, a problem that was later encountered in the British Empire as well.

En el caso particular de Venezuela, se celebra el ‘Día del Árbol’ el último domingo de mayo, pero más como una fecha nacional o local. Creo recordar que en general, en buena parte de América Latina, la celebración del Día Internacional en cuestión es hoy. Por lo menos, eso es lo que lo vi en un listado de efemérides para este día que publica diariamente una amiga mexicana, en otra de las redes sociales en las que interactuamos.
Al revisar un poco la historia, me sorprendí de leer que la fecha de la primera celebración de un día destinado a resaltar la importancia de los árboles es de origen español, en plena época del gran imperio español, que tenía territorios de ultramar en al menos cuatro continentes. Según los registros, fue en 1805, en Villanueva de la Sierra (Cáceres, España), en donde el párroco Ramón Vacas Rojo, propuso celebrar un día como homenaje a los árboles. The Spanish crown of that time, promulgated what can be considered the first environmental protection laws, forcing the owners of forest exploitations and sawmills to ensure the planting and reforestation of the areas that were being exploited in their commercial activities. That was something very innovative, and today we can see its benefits, but I was surprised to see that they noticed the whole problem of the loss of tree protection and the damage done to the soil, as well as the dangers of desertification, loss of soil stability, loss of wildlife, and many other problems caused by the indiscriminate destruction of trees.
Currently, we have a greater environmental awareness and the cost of uncontrolled exploitation is much better understood, but there is still a lot to be done, it is enough to look at the deforestation figures of large forests and #jungles to become discouraged and ask the question that our the human species has trouble understanding such an obvious matter. But I suppose you can keep hoping that future generations will be better than us, it's just doing the best you can today and leaving the future in the hands of those who will come.

La corona española de ese entonces, promulgó lo que puede considerarse las primeras leyes de protección ambiental, obligando a los dueños de explotaciones forestales y de aserraderos a asegurar la siembra y la reforestación de las zonas que estaban siendo explotadas en sus actividades comerciales. Eso fue algo muy innovador y en la actualidad podemos ver sus beneficios, pero me sorprendí al ver que ellos notaron todo el problema de la perdida de la protección de los árboles y el daño que se le hacía a los suelos, además de los peligros de desertificación, perdida de estabilidad de los suelos, perdida de vida silvestre, y muchos otros problemas que generaba la destrucción indiscriminada de árboles.
En la actualidad, tenemos una mayor conciencia ambiental y se comprende mucho mejor el costo que tiene una explotación descontrolada, pero aún queda mucho por hacer, basta con mirar las cifras de deforestación de grandes bosques y selvas para desalentarse y plantearse la cuestión de que nuestra especie humana tiene problemas para entender un asunto tan obvio. Pero supongo que se puede mantener la esperanza de que las generaciones futuras sean mejores que nosotros, tica hacer hoy lo que mejor se pueda y dejar el futuro en manos de los que vendrán.
