Zootopia is entertaining as a children's animated movie, and I love it because it talks about stereotypes, ambition, fear, and the responsibility that comes with realizing that you might also be part of the problem.

‎ I watch this movie 3 years back but when I saw it again recently I decided to go watch it again and I found out a lot of things I never did 3 years back.

‎At first, Judy Hopps’ story looks simple. She is a small rabbit who dreams of becoming a police officer in a city where different animals are supposed to live together peacefully. Everyone doubts her because of her size and because rabbits are traditionally seen as weak. She refuses to accept that limitation and eventually becomes the first rabbit police officer in Zootopia.

‎Judy enters the police force believing that good intentions are enough. She wants to prove that anyone can become anything. But after becoming involved in a case where predators mysteriously start behaving violently, she makes a serious mistake. She allows fear and assumptions to influence her judgment.

‎ I love that part so much because it makes Judy a much better character. She becomes part of the very prejudice she thought she was fighting.

‎Nick Wilde, the fox she works with, makes this even more interesting. He has spent his entire life being judged because he is a fox. Because of that, he has learned not to expect much from people. Judy initially sees Nick through the same kind of stereotype, even though she needs his help.

‎The movie creates an interesting contradiction:

Judy wants a world where animals aren't judged by what they are, yet she sometimes judges Nick because of what he is.

‎That is probably the strongest part of Zootopia for me.

‎ Sometimes discrimination comes from obvious hatred

‎I can actually predict that movie from the start

‎And honestly, Judy becoming a police officer isn't even the most important achievement in the story. Her real achievement is realizing that being the victim of prejudice doesn't automatically make you incapable of prejudicing others.
