You may be a whale or a minnow, no matter who you are there is something you need to know. Something that is big and will decide your future on steemit. The number of followers you have today doesn't matter, the amount of upvote you get today doesn't matter. What matters the most is to what extent you know what steemit is all about and how can you take the maximum benefit of it.
Are you doing good?
Getting followers on steemit is not something of a big deal. Just follow all the new minnows you see and they will follow you back. I have seen many people having around 2,000 followers but they are following 16,000 and that's very unhealthy. They are just getting around about 5 or 6 upvotes in their posts including some vote of the bot and booster.
Why is this unhealthy?
It may seem fine for you to follow to follow back but it is the worst thing you can do in any social media. You will get a huge amount of following but they are all of varied interest. They may not be interested in what you post and eventually unfollow you or they leave their account forever never coming back. This way you will have a huge number of dead followers. I don't think you will like it
Earning using bots
If you are earning using bots then just stop doing that. They are just killing you from inside. If you are new to blogging then please learn how to blog and how to grow your audience, not just post crap and let the bot do the work for you. Using bots for getting initial attention is good but using it forever is not good at all. I didn't knew about those bots before but I was shocked, even some big steemians are using bots to get some money. The bots may be stopped any time or eventually fade out itself. They are working now because the community is small and steemit seems not to be caring about it but number of bots users will increase in future making the ecosystem very very unhealthy. Only the rich ones will get paid not the creative ones.
Just don't be to much greedy
Posting too many articles
There are many steemians who just come here to post article and earn some money. They are unaware of the fact that they can read others post and comment and get paid for it. Reading others articles help you to increase your own quality. If you are reading this article till now then Cheers... you are doing great.

What is the best way of using steemit?
The best way is to post what you know. Work hard to make a quality post, don't use bots and boosters. Just don't do follow to follow. Read others posts as well. You will eventually see your progress, it's not a fast and easy process. You must work for it. You may take your SBD out and invest in other crypto and buy steem from the profit, which will eventually increase your power on steemit.
