Well, this is a great theme fo this week's Show Me A Photo contest: unusual bird photo! We sure could use some humour in today's world!
I didn't knew if I had some photos worthy enough to be used, but then my lazy brain started to work, and managed to collect a few pearls from my archives. Ready or not... here they come!
This one has got to be one of my funniest bird photos. And yes, it really is a live bird! It's a male bustard, Otis tarda, in a courtship display. Yes, it looks strange, but it does seem to have some success with the ladies! 馃槈
On to another crazy bird.
While have lunch somewhere in Sri Lanka, the local MC decided to show up. He was... loud, let's put it this way!
Also in Sri Lanka, more silent than the previous one, but with a cervical dislocation. It doesn't matter: that berrie had to be captured, no matter what!
At least berries are probably healthy food. This next one probably had a little too much salt in his diet...
Found this crazy bird in a salt flat in southern Portugal. He was going in and out of the salty water, dragging his body and wings on the soil, and walking around in a hunchback posture; it was the first time I saw them doing this!
