Best regards and a big hug!

Today has become a special opportunity for me—a chance to set out on a leisurely, unhurried walk and bring you photos of things I felt were worth capturing. I couldn't post about last Wednesday's walk because I wasn't feeling well; I had walked too much the previous week—specifically, every single day—while running work-related errands.

Thank goodness I’m doing better now, so here is a look at my peaceful Wednesday stroll. I’ll tell you all about the route, which began with a very special encounter with a special little creature: a small canary on the side of the church near my home. It was eating breadcrumbs—or so I assume, since so many people toss food to the birds, and they come down quite fearlessly to eat.

I did my best with my phone’s camera to snap a few photos of the little guy; you can tell just by looking at him that he’s a male canary because his yellow coloring is so intense.

Leaving the canary behind, I continue my walk and come across a variety of the Canna indica plant in a public planter. I want to highlight its fruit: although they look like small, spiky balls, the spikes don't actually prick—so rest assured, they are harmless. In fact, once dried, the seeds are used to make maracas—an instrument just as popular here in Colombia as it is in my home country, Venezuela.

Its fruits are lovely; they really look like little balls of a beautiful green color that give it a very charming appearance.

Newly planted pines. It is heartening to see things like this, so I commend those who care about the environment as well as the city's aesthetics.

I came across three signs, each from a different shop advertising its services. The first one, from left to right, belonged to a restaurant advertising the day's breakfast menu. The middle sign was in front of a flower shop, advertising a 5% discount for the Day of Love and Friendship—since in Colombia, it is celebrated in September. The third sign was in front of an ice cream parlor, naturally advertising its ice cream specialties. They were all very tempting.

In addition to the sign, the ice cream shop has a giant ice cream cone that welcomes customers, but that family-sized one wasn't on the menu.

Finally, I heard some parakeets making a huge racket. I could hear them but couldn't spot them until I realized they were perched high up on a wire in a residential area filled with tall buildings. It turned out to be just a pair of parakeets—the kind I call "clean-faced," though they are actually known as green-tailed parakeets. Well, what a commotion those two were making! They were so lovely and amusing with all that noise.

Before I sign off, I’m sharing two photos I edited to give them a sepia tone. It’s a simple experiment to show you this brief monochromatic presentation of the family-sized cone, along with a glimpse of the height at which that pair of Green-tailed Parrotlets was perched—way up there.

¡Un cordial saludo y un fuerte abrazo!
Este día se ha convertido en una oportunidad especial para mí. Si, una oportunidad para disponerme a dar una caminata tranquila, sin afán y para traerle las fotos de lo que considero que merecía plasmarlo en una fotografía. La semana pasada no pude publicar mi caminata del miércoles porque mi salud estuvo regular ya que la semana pasada caminé demasiado. Me refiero a todos los días para cumplir con diligencias del trabajo.
Gracias a Dios, ya estoy tranquila, me siento mejor y aquí les regalo mi paseo tranquilo del miércoles. Les voy a narrar mi recorrido porque empezó con un encuentro muy especial con un animal también especial. Era un pequeño canario que estaba en uno de los laterales de la iglesia que está cerca de donde vivo. Ese canario comía unas migajas de pan, al menos eso creo. Es que mucha gente les lanza comida a los pajaritos y ellos bajan muy confiados a comer.
Hice lo que pude con la cámara de mi teléfono y le tomé algunas fotos a este chiquitín, que visualmente se nota que es un canario macho porque su color amarillo es más intenso.




Dejando atrás al canario sigo mi recorrido y en una jardinera de la vía pública está una variedad de la planta Canna Indica. Lo que quiero destacar son sus frutos que a pesar de ser pequeñas bolas con púas estas no puyan, así que no se preocupen porque son inofensivas. Es más cuando se secan se usan las semillas para hacer las maracas; el instrumento tan popular aquí en Colombia, como en mi país Venezuela.
Son lindos sus frutos, realmente me parecen unas bolitas de un color verde muy precioso que le dan una apariencia muy tierna.

Pinos recién sembrados. Me alienta ver este tipo de cosas así que felicito a quienes se preocupan por el medio ambiente además del ornato de la ciudad.

Me topé con tres avisos, cada uno de distintas tiendas que anuncian sus servicios. El primero, de izquierda a derecha, pertenece a un restaurant que anuncia el menú para el desayuno del día. El aviso del medio, estaba frente a una floristería anunciando un descuento del 5% para el día del amor y la amistad, porque en Colombia lo celebran en septiembre. El tercer aviso, estaba frente a una heladería, por supuesto que anunciando sus especialidades en helados. Todos eran muy tentadores.

La heladería además del aviso tiene una barquilla gigante que le da la bienvenida a los clientes, pero esa de tamaño familiar no estaba en el menú.

Por último, oí a unos pericos haciendo una gran algarabía. Se oían, pero no se veían hasta que me doy cuenta que estaban posados sobre un cable a gran altura en la zona residencial con altos edificios. Resulta que era solo un par de pericos, de los que yo llamo cara limpia, pero en realidad se llaman coliverde. Bueno pero que pandemonio tenían estos dos. Tan bellos y graciosos con su bulla armada.

Antes de despedirme, les dejo dos fotos que edité para que se vean en color sepia. Un simple experimento para mostrarle esta corta presentación monocromática de la barquilla tamaño familiar y un vistazo de la altura donde estaban, por allá arriba, el par de pericos coliverdes.
