Have you ever taken a closer look at the small insects that run so fast on the water surface? They also have a life :)
A new first here for me, as I have never focused on Water Skaters before.
And the thing here is, no, they don't wear skates lol.
I will show you some summer time love and insects in a pond today, so relax and be amazed.
These are little Water Skaters (Gerris swakopensis)
I usually see them singular, but the 4 feelers and many legs of this one alerted me to the fact that something was going on!
Some "Cape Platanna" (Xenopus gilli) frogs here!
Right, we switch to some new spring water frog babies that have now taken off their tadpole suits!
This photo below looked like a lovely painting to me!
Look how fast these guys grow. Very soon this one will be an adult!
A lovely Lotus reflection here, but that's not all.
Have a look at the third petal to the left, above the water of the flower!
Can you see it here?
Yes it looks like a "Black Sprite" (Pseudagrion commoniae) Damselfly!
Finally I end the post with a lovely "Red Veined Dropwing" (Trithemis arteriosa) at the pond side!
This is why I never see a pond or a small dam as an empty body of water. There is always some form of life in it waiting to be discovered.
I could have started this post with any of the above as the tag picture, but I have never before concentrated on the Water Skaters and a bonus was to get a mating pair on camera.
I could also have placed a message here about the fact that we should never regard any other person as an empty soul, as we all harbor something unique within, but that's for another day!
