Something here that you have never seen before!
This is a strawberry farm with a difference that you will see here. I don't want to spoil the fun by telling you in the introduction, but have a look and tell me what you think. For some of you this might be a big surprise.
Let's go!
I was reminded of the old Beatles song, "Strawberry fields forever" when this old Volkswagen bus appeared on our way to the farm.
This is a part of the strawberry fields!
Look at their strange water irrigation system!
A tractor with two water sprayers mounted at the back!
Works well don't you think?
Here's the difference. This farm is at the end of a plane runway!
Here you can see the strawberry tunnels behind the airfield fence!
Very wide and long tunnels with strawberry lanes inside!
Incoming plane above the strawberry tunnels!
Here's a look a bit further out!
And so, we visited a strawberry farm at the end of an airfield's runway. Certainly a strange feeling when the planes scream so low overhead. The fruits are not ripe yet, but in a few weeks time a strawberry festival will hopefully take place here.
There are also cherry and a variety of citrus farms in the area that will all start to bloom during the spring month of September, which is not too far away.Oh yeah and there are also some organic vegetable farms about.
Thankfully the weather is playing the game as we are getting a lot of rain over here, which will result in healthy and bumper crops.
Papillon will buy some boxes of farm produce to distribute to the children homes and other places that work with the poor.
We hope you have enjoyed the photos and thank you for visiting a post by @papilloncharity
