The little Swee Waxbill came to the garden to inspect the progress of his plant.

But who planted the seven bird seed plants in our garden?

It was not here last season and all of a sudden the plants are growing here. Another puzzle is that we don't have bird feeders in the area where the plants are and somebody must have picked the spot to plant the seeds. A squirrel perhaps?

We were so glad to see this plant when it was small, as we thought it was a maize (corn) plant.
But instead it is a Millet grass seed plant of the family Poaceae.

I took this as the Swee (Coccopygia melanotis) did a strange landing on the ground. Instead they normally land on a twig.

Then he flew up to land on the plant's leaf!

Oh yes, he came to inspect the seed head, but as you can see it is not ready yet!

To avoid boredom here is a Cape Robin-chat (Cossypha caffra) in full mating regalia.

And finally here is something else that I am waiting for!

This is the high Palm tree at the front of our house!

As you can see, the fruit is still green, but it will soon start to turn yellow and ripe.

Some beautiful birds visit the tree to eat the fruits and hola, at night the giant fruit bats will arrive in their numbers.

Some of you will remember that I posted the giant fruit bats last year at it is one of the highlights of our stay here.
Yes, we are now living in a great area and nature and it's residents are in abundance, but there is always that word "but" in the human psyche.

But we live close to a major road and the traffic noises are driving me crazy. Have you ever heard an ambulance siren screaming at full volume and passing your bedroom at 2am in the morning? They sing that some days are diamonds and some days are gold. I think that some days are diamonds and some days are sad!

And that's All Friends!
