Surrounded by birds, squirrels and butterflies.

When they see me with a tool in my hand in the garden, the residents get worried that I will dig up their nuts. I mean a lot of hard work was done by them to bury copious amounts of nuts in preparation for the coming winter and they have to protect their turf.
Now I know this and that's why I have not started to build two terraces in the garden as I have to wait for the end of winter, so this afternoon I was only cutting off low level branches on the bushes.

I had music in the garden, as this little song bird was giving it a go high up in the cork oak tree.

Marian watered the garden earlier and the little Cape White-eye had a bath amongst the wet leaves.

Some more troops arrived to try and stop me from using the shears.

This guy was checking if the ground was disturbed at his nut patch.

And finally this Citrus butterfly collected some syrup from the Periwinkle bush.

I like the sky and the clouds, but I also like to get my fingers into the ground. A problem that I have is that age has caught up with me and old injuries are taking their revenge on my body. The numbers 5 and 6 of the vertebrae in my spine are collapsing due to an old motorbike accident injury in tandem with some other body parts and I have to bend over very gingerly.

But then again to have one's fingers busy in the soil is such an amazing experience. I get that peaceful feeling of belonging to the earth and that all is well. The earthy smell is great and of course the birds and the little animals make things so much more enjoyable.
Maybe one day when I am old I will become a gardener :)

And That's All Friends!
