Now why would Marian fill a ditch in the road with water?
Actually two surprises and the second one was bigger than the first one.
As we returned home, we found that the scheduled power black out never happened. We had prepared for it as we received a notice that the power would be off from 10am to 12:30pm, but true to form it wasn't done.
Then the second surprise occurred.
Guess who this little fellow is?
To our surprise Harry and Sally arrived with their crop of gosslings.
9 of them which meant that a few had already been taken by predators.
We knew where they were going, as it is hot here today with no rain.
Straight to the new "pool" that Marian made for them.
Yep, everyone was thirsty in the hot sun and the little ones were delighted with the pool.
Enjoying themselves and some even tried to swim, but the pool was too shallow.
Sally said to Harry, "You better keep an eye out for that damn tomcat Noel"
A lovely time that the little ones were having in the road.
Cool fresh water on a hot day is always refreshing.
The fun was over and Sally got them all out of the water to preen and relax.
Now Harry could have a little catnap, as he had a torrid time the whole morning watching the kids.
But at the faintest strange noise, he is immediately awake again.
I have to apologise, as I was wrong, the geese with the youngsters at the hospital was not Harry and Sally.
Couldn't have been as here they are today with their gosslings.
Harry has already had a scrap here this afternoon with one of the tenant's dogs and Noel the cat is still nowhere to be seen.
The big question is, will this crop survive, or will all of the little ones be taken again by predators.
Time will tell.
