Apples of Gold South Africa added 60 new photos from August to the album LAMb International Child Trauma Workshop 13 and 14 August 2019.
Under the auspices of The Papillon Foundation (
60 Child workers in free trauma training
Classroom sessions and practical demonstrations on day one of the course.
Day two is split into group sessions and competency demonstrations by the learners..
And of course the graduation ceremony at the end.
Much laughter and happiness in receiving an internationally accredited certificate.

The trauma students come from all walks of life and all of them work with children every day.
Police and hospital trauma workers, creche and nursery school staff, school teachers, government staff, non profit workers, charity staff, welfare workers and our course registration documents reveal a large variety of occupations that attend the trauma training courses.
How do we heal the nation? We start with the children according to a proven concept and depending on funding
Course Focus and Contents
The aim of this training is to teach and equip caregivers in understanding trauma and in turn how to recognize trauma, to understand the impact trauma has on the life of a child and how to become competent in dealing with the child's behaviours and helping them to work through that trauma so that it is dealt with quickly and effectively.
The course covers topics such as:
Understanding need
Goals of trauma care
Trauma versus stress.
Acute trauma.
Complex developmental trauma
Trauma’s impact on development.
Domains of impairment.
Understanding behaviour
Essential skills of trauma informed care.
Remapping thinking and responses
Caregivers’ personal self-care.
Excellent practical exercises, group work and discussion, with PowerPoint presentations and videos are included in the training. We have also adapted it to suit the African context as much as we can, so that it is relevant and understandable for the people we are training.
Child worker graduates from these courses to date: 1207 persons
