I have always wondered about the different shades of blue in the sky.
So, in here you will see the blue shades, and we decided to finally try to solve the mesmerising puzzle about the changes in the blues, from dark to pale. Have you ever heard of the Rayleigh scattering? Neither have I and as my wife is the "scientist" in our family, I asked her to investigate it.
This is what Wikipedia has to say about it.
The blue color of the sky is a consequence of three factors:
The blackbody spectrum of sunlight coming into the Earth's atmosphere,
Rayleigh scattering of that light off oxygen and nitrogen molecules, and
the response of the human visual system.
I took about 70 shots of the blues on this occasion, and, like I said, the colors really puzzled me. Apparently, a guy called Lord Rayleigh also decided to investigate the blue colors and the amazing news is that Leonardo da Vinci, the famous painter, also understood the cause of the blue changes in the sky. As you can see, I took the photos from different directions and all of them remained the same blue color. When I downloaded the shots on my PC, the photos looked like a blue palette, all next to and under each other. A great visual presentation, and if I could figure out how to place the photo of the palette in a post, I am sure that you will also find it to be an amazing sight.
I told you before, that we have very weird weather here, and I read in an article today that the mud landslide demolished 4 houses, thankfully no one was injured, but still, it must be a terrible situation to be in. The country Nepal also had a much bigger landslide, and thousands were killed. So, it is not only here, but also all across the planet. We are struggling to shake the claws of winter off, even though we are well into the spring season.
The great thing about it, is that we are getting much needed rain, and we hope that it will continue. Nature has amazing forces that mankind cannot contain, and one can only endure the onslaughts. Warnings were sent out years ago about the damages to the ozone layer, due to all of the toxic gases that are sent up in the air, but it seems that nobody has listened, and now we are all in real trouble.
Such is life.
