I have an affinity for coffee shops and coffee......well, an "affinity" is such a mild term for the overwhelming obsession and fascination I have for spending time in a coffee house! I adore it, every aspect of it is so satisfying to every fiber of my being. No matter where I have lived, no matter the stage of my journey I might find myself, no matter the ups and downs of my financial situation I have always found my "spot" to sit, contemplate, and caffeinate! And it is no different in the current stage of my life. My go to spot for the last 14 years has been Circa Coffee House.
Over these past years the staff and owners have become more like my friends and family and there is something so very comforting about having a "spot" to call your own, where you are recognized, accepted, and welcomed with open arms. This particular coffee house resides in a remodeled 1950s style diner and some of the flavors of that bygone establishment still live on in the flooring and décor. It is attached (through an open partial wall) to an adjacent antique store that is also owned by the proprietors of the coffee shop. It is not uncommon to enjoy your heavenly brew while sitting at a $1,000 table..lolol Or enjoy chatting with some friends at a table with vintage Delta First-Class Airplane seats as your throne. The furniture and design is very eclectic and that appeals so much to me.
There are very few public places that I feel comfortable visiting and an even more exclusive amount where I can actually relax enough to engage in creative endeavors, but generally, coffee houses fit this bill and Circa is no exception. I am a keen student of human behavior and human nature and one of my favorite pastimes is to engage is deliberate and significant people watching and what better place to do that than a coffee house where all are welcome and every walk of life and proclivity is represented on a daily basis? Everything from the elegant aromas to the familiar clanging of dishware is a comfort to my soul. Some of these "strangers" have spent more physical time with me than some of my relatives (I think I like them better too! lolol).
I do a considerable amount of my writing at this establishment and I've often wondered why, even with the people distractions, sounds, and smells, how I am able to get so much more done by driving to a coffee shop as opposed to the comfort of my own home office? I'm not sure if it is the routine or much like a home gym compared to a commercial gym that the act of changing your physical location does something the neurons and synapses responsible for productivity. Speaking of routines, I always start with a large Sugar-Free Salted Caramel Breve( a breve is just using steamed half and half as opposed to milk, but most of you already knew that). After getting some writing done and settling in for the long haul I then order there amazing Bacon-Cheddar Quiche and as a carnivore, I restrain from eating the crust but it is so very difficult when it is housed in such a buttery, flaky decadence of pastry delight!
This was a little peak into my happy place and I sincerely hope you enjoyed this journey with me. Remember I love you all and you have value and worth!
