Look what we got!
Yesterday was culling day for us. Technically, we only had one rooster that we really needed to cull, so we pulled in some other resources to make it more worthwhile. A neighbor had three egg-eating hens they wanted to cull, and another neighbor was getting rid of their flock for the winter. Here's the culling video if anyone wants to check it out.
Anyway, that last group of chickens I mentioned was two hens and three roosters. It's not the best flock combination to begin with, but once the hens stop laying for the year, it's five chickens to feed for zero eggs. We told her we'd take care of them and decided to keep one rooster and the two hens. We did butcher the other two roosters, along with our rooster and the egg eating hens, but we got these three new additions to our flocks. What do you think? Enjoy the photos!
