Argentina - Recycling Sites Located in Our Localities || Argentina - Lugares de Reciclajes Inmersos en Nuestras Localidades.

      A content creator has to be constantly on the lookout for the conversations that usually happen among friends. Chatting with my cyclist friend Alejandro, who drives urban buses in the city of Ezeiza, he told me about a place called Eco Puntos. Without hesitation, cell phone in hand, I told him I wanted to check it out.

! [Spanish] Un creador de contenidos, tiene que estar constantemente expectante, en las tertulias que generalmente suceden entre amigos. Charlando con mi amigo ciclista Alejandro, siendo el conductor de colectivos urbanos en la ciudad de Ezeiza, me comenta de un lugar que se llama Eco Puntos. Sin dudar y celular en mano, le dije que quería conocerlo.

      The thing is, in many municipalities, everyday events happen, which sometimes don't make the media. When I used to watch the news on television (I no longer do), I ended up very stressed, since a large percentage of the news isn't good news. But believe me, there are more of us in the world, and there is good news to tell.

Cuando miraba los noticieros en la televisión (hoy en día ya no lo hago) terminaba muy estresado, ya que un gran porcentaje de las noticias no son de las buenas. Pero créanme, que los buenos somos más en el mundo y existen noticias buenas para contar.

      The garbage generated in most homes, which collectors pass by our doors every day to collect, is taken to a place. Where? In the case of Ezeiza, and I imagine in other areas as well, it's taken to these spaces called Eco Points. There are several in Ezeiza, and I find their function very commendable and worthy of admiration.

! [Spanish] La basura que se genera en la mayoría de los hogares y que los recolectores cotidianamente pasan por nuestras puertas a retirarlas, se llevan a un lugar. ¿Dónde? En el caso de Ezeiza e imagino que también en otras localidades, se llevan a estos espacios que se denominan Eco Puntos. En la localidad de Ezeiza hay varios y su función me parece muy loable y digno de admiración.

      Before garbage ends up in landfills, it passes through these sorting areas. All potentially reusable materials are separated: wood, cardboard, glass, metal, plastic, and more. What can't be recycled is sent to places called sanitary landfills. The rest remains in the municipality in these spaces, and the various recycling processes are carried out through various cooperatives operating in municipal warehouses.

! [Spanish] Antes de que la basura terminen en los vertederos, pasan por estos lugares donde se hace una clasificación. Se separan todos los materiales que potencialmente pueden ser reutilizables. Maderas, cartones, vidrios, metales, plásticos y demás. Lo que realmente no se puede reciclar, se envían en lugares que se denominan rellenos sanitarios. El resto se queda en el municipio en estos espacios y a través de diferentes cooperativas que funcionan en galpones municipales, se realizan los diferentes reciclajes.

      In addition, giving things a second chance creates a lot of labor, and I think that's extremely important. On the other hand, we can learn countless things from theory, but I personally believe that putting things into practice is much more effective. Kids from different schools often visit these spaces to see how the trash we generate every day is treated. And it's very important, because from our homes we can contribute by separating our trash bags as little as possible and making the work easier for others.

! [Spanish] Además, de darle una segunda oportunidad a las cosas, se generan muchas manos de obra y eso me parece de extremada importancia. Por otro lado, desde la teoría podemos aprender infinidades de cosas, pero en lo particular creo que desde la práctica es mucho más efectivo. Los chicos de diferentes colegios, suelen visitar estos espacios, para ver el tratamiento que se realiza con la basura que generamos cotidianamente. Y es muy importante, ya que desde nuestras casas podemos aportar, separando mínimamente nuestras bolsitas de basura y facilitando el trabajo a los demás.

      The bicycle always takes me to places that comfort my soul, and that's why I encourage everyone to use this mode of transportation, which also helps the universe and, of course, our health. To enter the warehouses, we need a municipal permit, which is why we were only able to tour them from the outside.
