Pine boughs dip
the needles press apart
elegant fans
I risked my life to take this picture
the rug on my deck
captivating.
the steps up there
treacherous,
but I'm glad I did
The views at my feet
often overlooked
but today
my gaze downward
my intention to stay erect
every crunchy step
a reminder
of how fragile
we all are
If only I had noticed
my boot in this shot
How grateful I was
to have to take out the garbage
last night.
I stepped out my front door
and gasped
at the sight
Tiny tinkles
as ice dropped
when I brushed by
the bowing boughs
of my front walk -
I am so blessed
