If only I had an SBI for every time I said "I can't paint" or "I can't draw" or I can't take pictures"!
I used to say "I wish I could sing. It must feel so good!" One day I got sick of saying that so I took some lessons and I've been taking lessons for a good six years now. I still can't really sing very well (it's a LOT harder than it looks and sounds), but I get oodles of joy from trying, it does indeed feel REALLY GOOD, and every now and then I make sounds that are music. My profile pix is of me singing in my favorite place in the whole wide world, Maureen's Jazz Cellar in Nyack, NY.
I also used to say "I can't write" and here I am with a blog of my own.
When I ambled across the Wednesday Walks hosted by @tattoodjay, I got up the chutzpah to get a bit more serious about taking photos. There could be no harm in taking casual shots around my house that few folks would ever even see, could there?
WRONG. Now I am obsessed (I do that) with taking pictures! I want to buy a camera and a cool lens that does groovy stuff and capture all the amazing things that I now see when I take just a few steps outside my front or back or side doors! I want to filter and adjust and crop and rotate and zoom (I haven't zoomed yet) and time my shots just right. My body is moving in ways I have been avoiding ("my knees can't do that anymore") for years now. I wait patiently for clouds to pass, I squat to get different perspectives, I lean to left or right to frame my shot just so, I step backwards and arch my back trying to get the sun to peek through the crook of a branch and make those cool sun rays, I climb rock walls, and I even think about climbing trees again, (I used to say "I am really good at climbing trees"). The best part of all this is that I find nearly everything on earth fascinating!
For this Wednesday Walk I'm posting a bunch of shots of pavement that I think are beautiful as abstract art. If I could paint (and one day maybe I'll have to try my hand at that) this is what my paintings might look like.
For this last one, I played with timing, trying to get my toes in the shot as I walked. That was fun. So much about photography involves timing! I had no idea. Like singing, it's a lot harder than it looks.
This is my entry to @tattoodjay's Wednesday Walk challenge https://steempeak.com/esteem/@tattoodjay/wednesday-walk-battery-park-5e3f242ff35ce which I am really enjoying. Try it!
Thank you so much for viewing and reading!
