my vision
is stuck
on that day
and all the days preceding it
my future
is stopped
with your breath
my visions of you
are not all happy and warm and fuzzy
no
many are fraught with failure
a mother's regrets
my favorite vision of you
is on a skateboard
of course
those many hours you soared
and loved life
enough to live it
those last few days
when you had given up
and we both knew it
but you carried on for me
those last few hours
when you called my name
and I was there
I had always been there
this gives me comfort
I was always there
and I am still here but you are not
I am still here
trying to bring you back
so I could correct all those mistakes
that I and other so called experts made
while you carried on
with the air well under your spinning wheels
and my earth still turned
This is my entry to @mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is vision. This is a true freewrite, I wrote for 4 minutes and 47 seconds, finished before the 5 minute timer went off, and made no changes of any kind. I have been trying to write this poem for nearly six months. Thank you for reading it.
