"Let's cut your braid. It's too long."

No way. My mother told me to never cut my hair, because my hidden powers were in it. Or something like that.

"Poppy cock! You believe that stuff?"

I don't have to believe it. I believe my mother.

"huh."

"Maybe if I believed my mother more, I wouldn't be such a bitch"

Could be. Mothers know things.

"If I become a mother, will I know things?"

Not right away. You'll think you know things, and you'll hang out with other mothers who think they know things, but the first sign of trouble, and you'll see that not one of you knows a single thing.

"How do you know this?

My mother told me.

She also told me that when I had children, she was going to come sit in a corner and laugh.

This is my entry to mariannewest@mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is long braid. My mother really did say that bit about sitting in a corner and laughing to me.
