I'm still very much excited about our yesterday's visit with the old doctor Jonas Stankus who helped come laputis@laputis to this world. This is an amazing man. He still writes a diary to this day, an activity which he started back in 1939...

He gave us the published edition of his diary and I already started reading it. Because of it my testerday's Actifit report turned out to be much longer...

I was thinking what kind of influence does diary writing make on a person?

It seems unbelievable that somebody can sit down every day, make it habit and write down the things that happened during the day.

My dad used to do it too. But I don't think that younger generation does it too often. Even less so - day after day, month after month, year after year, decade after decade.

But such writing really changes a person. Not only with dripping method of creation you get a solid body of work after the years but such discipline sharpens your mind to notice things.

Things that you did, things you saw, things you overheard other people say.

I envy such people who do this from an yearly age. I wish I could turn back time and start writing diary.

But then I think that daily blogging is also a form of diary. Only it's public.

So maybe I shouldn't envy people who write diaries. Maybe I'm doing it too only in my own way.

And since on Steem people's engagement goes through the roof, we get instant feedback because we incentivize such behavior. This can't be achieved when writing a diary in a notebook.

What do you think?
