Let's Make Some Stuffed Cabbage
My mom was 100% Hungarian so I guess that makes me 50% Hungarian and 50% hillbilly! I was raised on stuffed cabbage. I love the stuff! One of the best things about making it is how the cooking aromas always take me back to my mom's kitchen.
Making It Both Ways
I am about 85% vegetarian, so I am going to try a recipe that is inspired by my slave driver fitness coach and good friend @dswigle! She has been an amazing inspiration for me to get healthy and eat better. So much obliged Denise, this monstrosity is dedicated to you! Now aint that special
But First, Here is Some Vintage Old Guy
Making Traditional Stuffed Cabbage with Meat
Ok So Let's Jump Right Into It
We need to core a head of cabbage.
Be careful here because the cabbage is not easy to cut. Be sure to always cut away from yourself.
Now for the Vegetarian Filling
We will combine the following ingredients.
I cooked the quinoa, the lentils and the rice all separate just to be sure to get them right. Then just combined them all together to make the filling. Salt and pepper to taste.
Fill the Pan Up!
You just know they are going to be good!
Now my mom used to bake her stuffed cabbage for what seemed like forever, especially if you were hungry and waiting. The nice thing about not using meat is that we dont need forever for these to cook. I am doing it stove top, and lazy man style. Baking all day in the oven, aint nobody got time for that! And yes Im using pasta sauce... I did say lazy man style after all lol.
