I heard a story of two people who traveled to a certain part of Asia for the first time. When they got there, they saw people walking on barefoot. One of the tourists got disgusted and said he'll never visit again. But the other guy saw a business opportunity. He saw they needed footwear and that was how he started his footwear business.
On Facebook, I follow Dr Strive Masiyiwa the CEO of Econet Wireless. One day, he asked his followers how they see the social media and the internet at large. Very few answered correctly. But this is his own description.
He said,
"the social media is like a large piece of land that has gold underneath it, some people come here to catch fun, some build houses on it, some build factories on it and only a few mine the gold."
What you see, determines what you get. I asked my Facebook friends a similar question a few days ago and none was able to give me an answer. I asked,
"Since you have been on Facebook, what have you benefited?"
Don't get me wrong. I have an active account on Facebook. I am not against meeting new friends online and socializing. But when you do it at the expense of other useful things, it becomes stupidity. I have friends who have good writing skills that I invited over and over again to come to Steemit and do the same thing they do on Facebook, but they refused. Yet, they keep begging for money.
You can have two people living in the same country, while one is only seeing failures and economic breakdown, the other one will be seeing opportunities everywhere. The location is not the problem, but what you can see.
Now that you are a registered member of the Steem Blockchain, what can you see here?
In your family, community and country, what can you see?
Everything you see has some sort of use.
The people you meet, your environment, the internet, the social media, the Blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, even the Garbage Dump can become gold in the hands of the man who looks beyond surface value.
Wherever you find yourself try to look past what everyone else is seeing. Be a deep thinker. Don't write-off anything based on the surface value.
Some people left Steemit because they couldn't see beyond its value at the time they left. I'm sure some are back already.
Be careful with how you spend your time and resources doing the unproductive.
My Quote for Today
