And when at last,
after a final farewell,
not a tender "see you later",
just a goodbye, nothing more,
you turned and left,
there I was, in silence,
following your steps,
the dance of your skirts and your hair...
until you turned the corner,
sad and dark as a closed door.
Then tears sprang to my eyes,
those that enjoyed you so much,
the night of your gaze,
the sunshine of your laughter,
that illuminated my life,
the silhouette of your rainy figure,
that once wet my skin...
I ran upstairs to the house,
I entered the dimly lit living room,
I took that beautiful photo in my hands,
a smile opened in my heart,
and I thanked life for having met you,
even knowing that I had just lost you
