PREPARATION
The Contractor shall prepare the following below at least 21 days before the date proposed in the use of any material for the first time as an aggregate foundation:
• Two samples of 50 kg each.
• Statement of the origin and composition of each proposed material for the aggregate foundation, and laboratory test results proving that the properties of the materials specified in Clause 25.5 (2) are met.The Contractor shall send the following below in written form immediately upon completion of each segment of the work and before approval is given for the spreading of other materials on the Aggregate Base:
• Result of density and water content testing as required in Item 2.6.4
• Survey results of surface measurements and inspection survey results data stating that the tolerances required in Item Number 2.7. fulfilled.
2.3. WEATHER ALLOWED TO WORK
Aggregate base layer should not be placed, spread, or compressed during rain, and compaction shall not be performed after rain or when the water content of the finished material is not within the range specified in Item 2.6.3.
2.5. INGREDIENTS
2.5.1. Source of materials
Aggregate foundation material should be selected from an approved source.
2.5.2. Crude aggregate fraction
• Crude aggregates retained on a 4.75 mm sieve shall consist of particles or shards of hard and durable rock or gravel.
• When used for class A base aggregate layers, for rough aggregates derived from gravel, not less than 100% by weight of this crude aggregate shall have at least one shattering field.
2.5.3. Fine aggregate fraction
• A fine aggregate that passes 4.75 mm sieve should consist of natural sand particles or finely crushed stone and other fine particles.
• Aggregate fractions passing through sieves No. 2 shall not be greater than 2/3 of the aggregate fraction passing through sieve No.40.
