So I did it, I finally decided that I would buy 100 plots or a tract of land for splinter lands.
A tract is a decent amount of coin to invest and as you can see below its $1700 or $1360 if you pay with BAT
So this isn't my first land purchase, I purchased 8 plots during the second round of land sales, for a price of $12 per plot, so it came to just under $100. But $100 is different to more than $1000, so this is a real vote of confidence I have in the splinterlands team.
I decided to take advantage of the BAT offer, and I sent $2000 AUD (approx $1500 USD) to binance, exchanged it all to BAT, and then sent that to my BSC wallet (its cheaper to withdraw to a BEP20 wallet as opposed to an ERC20 one)
I simply just connected my wallet to splinterlands and everything went smooth as expected.
The good thing was, that I had about USD 150 left afterwards, so what did I do? I exchanged it for BNB, and CUB, and then added it to the farming pool, its currently yielding 200%+ so if the land doesn't increase in value there is always the possibility that the CUB and BNB does, so that's a nice little bit of diversification.
Well the real reason I invested was, I am getting more and more excited about the game as I play it each month, and the developers are known, and have a weekly AMA, they use their real names, so they aren't exactly going to run off with the money. They are also incredibly transparent, I like that in an organisation so keep it up. So I feel comfortable that the dev team will build what they say.
The only thing left is, will it be worth anything? Well, I have been following alienworlds for a little bit, and the TLM price has mooned, but that means that the land where you can mine TLM has mooned even more. The cheapest land is now almost $8,000. I saw land on the second hand market for about $300 not long ago
So I guess I thought hey, splinterlands can do that too, and its possible it might go up even more, if the game keeps increasing in users like it has. The other thing I was thinking about was, well, DEC doesn't really go up in price above $1 per 1000. So maybe land has a ceiling, but the land isn't mining DEC, its mining spells and items, and who knows just how valuable these can be, I am guessing they will be in short supply initially so their land will provide hopefully a nice little income initially.
Lets' hope we don't have to spend too much DEC to get it to produce, I have a feeling there may be more investment required to get the most productive capacity out of the land.
So if you own land, you are really like a shareholder of splinterlands, because the more people the more demand for what land produces, and there is a limited supply of land.
I am starting to think about how can I get new players into the game as a land holder, have you?
