So I posted an article prematurely before I did an introduction. I didn't realise the (manageable) complexities of Steemit. This ain't no Facebook and I'm in the process of reading tutorials and FAQ's. There is a lot to learn and like most things, I'll learn as I go with reference tabs open.
I was born in Cape Town, where I still reside. My first ancestor from France landed and settled here in 1674. I am emphatically African, hold no other passport and have never set foot in the western world in all of my years.
Minimal techno, especially the German flavour, is my jam at present. I also have a strong psychedelic side, but my days of dancing and partying are now well over because of neurological and rheumatic disorders which have left me handicapped. I will never be able to work again, unless it's from home.
Writing for me is cathartic and who knows, I may just hone my skills enough to earn some very welcome income. For now I will focus on writing and creating content for my own sake, with no expectations. I'm done with Facebook and other limiting platforms. Steemit offers an audience, should I manage to start producing attention grabbing posts.
Until then, practice makes perfect.
I am taking my first steps in learning to code, with a view to becoming skilled enough in a few years as to generate some income from it. I have no ambition to become a hot-shot developer at some corporation. Too many years needed to level-up and compete with younger people. My health wouldn't allow for this in any case. But I will become good enough to cover my living expenses and it's something I could still do in my 60s.
I was recently gifted an Arduino starter kit and two Raspberry Pi's and I love these amazing little gadgets. They really are the best way to get into things like electronics/physical computing, coding, networking and mastering Linux.
All the best
