Sometimes people easily lose it all for money, even to a doctor who has a license? I have witnessed the convocation ceremony of doctors and their swearing-in sessions, observing the oath they take and overhearing their etiquette of practice.
However, some of these things expected of them aren't seen in reality, maybe for some of them though. What does it mean to save a life? I think such a person should be compassionate too. You can't claim to be saving life without having compassion as a virtue, even if it's a borrowed one while in practice. I mean, the two should go together.
I have a friend who has been pregnant with twin babies, doing her antenatal in a private firm. She had her first baby three years ago without any complications, and so she believes this time, she can also go for VG delivery instead of surgery.
However, the doctor insisted on doing surgery for her. According to my friend, she is not sick, nor is she weak; no health matters, just her babies kicking well, and all of a sudden, the doctor asked her to prepare for surgery when she experienced false labor, no room to try or wait, or do anything different but rush to surgery?
This pregnant lady insisted that for now, she is not doing any surgery because, first, she is okay health-wise, and second, she doesn't have money for surgery. If it's about complications, she can give in and borrow money, but there was nothing like complications, so why surgery?
Later on, she moved to another hospital and registered for antenatal. Only for her to go back to the other hospital to pick up her delivery items, and the doctor said, "Never," that she cant'touch it , he said this with anger! That was strange; already the doctor was aware he lost her patient to another hospital and seized her delivery items worth #45,000.
Later on, the doctor said, "The only way he can get the items is by paying #50,000!. Is that not madness? an item she bought with her own money, just that she chose NOT to deliver with surgery as the doctor demanded?
Finally, she left the whole item for the doctor and moved to the new hospital she registered, and this morning, she delivered a bouncing baby boy and a baby girl with ease, TWIN BABIES, just 10 minutes of push and without surgery, the twins were born.
It was exciting news to hear after all she has been through. I am still wondering why a doctor should display such action all for money. 🤔
