Social media have always been a topic with several angles to it. It has been a powerful tool used by different people for different reasons. This post however isn’t to talk about the social media in general but how I personally keep up with it.

The first social media I used was 2go. It didn’t have any special features but it was enough to connect to friends in various places. It had several levels depending on one's activity on the platform. As young teenagers, we kept comparing our levels and kept up our activities so we could move on to the higher levels. Being in a high level was pretty important to us you know.. Lol

The next social platform my friends and I moved on to was facebook. This platform was way better than the old 2go. It had more exciting and improved features although we didn’t have to compete for levels. From facebook to Instagram, twitter whatsapp and now there are quite a number of social platform with its own unique features and exposures.

At different points in my life, I was active on a particular social platform. Mostly, facebook, Instagram and whatsapp. I’ve never really been active on twitter. I cant really say for sure why that’s the case but it just is.

After having a taste of these social platforms, I settled for whatsapp.
I'm often very active on whatsapp. I like the platform because it's less public unlike facebook, Instagram or twitter. I can connect with people on my contact list any time even if I don’t have recharge on my phone to call them. Since I always have data anyways.

Due to my “jack of all trade” nature, I get so busy most times hence the reason I rarely have time for social media nowadays. On whatsapp however, some of my friends want me to give a 100% attention whenever they want to chat. I find that quite difficult to do because I got lots of other things to do online as a typical freelancer. I tell them to drop their messages and I'll reply when I'm online which wouldn’t even take long but they keep saying that doesn’t make it a conversation.

Well, except a conversation is about work or self development, I consider it a waste of time to just dwell on it until it’s over. My default adult self just wouldn’t be motivated to do so. My friends complain about this and I keep saying I would change but I still haven’t.

Now coming to Hive, A different kind of social platform very different from the usual. No single moment on Hive ever feels like a waste of time. Hive is filled with very interesting and intelligent people and posts. Asides connecting with people from different parts of the world, it is filled with several opportunities to learn and grow. In addition, one gets to make cool bucks and invest, all the while learning. I have to say Hive is the best social platform I've been on. One I can spend several hours on and I can proudly say my hours were well spent.

I don’t let social platforms freak me anymore. I just focus my attention on the ones that are more helpful and impactful. To me, socializing is secondary.

What about you? How do you keep up with social media?

Thanks for reading through.

Bye for now!
