Freezing cold! [Eng][Esp] | My Actifit Report Card: January 14 2025

I've been taking walks in the morning for a while now, fighting the cold and enjoying the early morning steps, until today. Lately I don't have time to go out in the evenings for a walk, besides, I don't like it getting dark so early at all.

Well, today I also went for an early walk, but after only 20 minutes I gave up and came back home. On the short way back, I approached one of the new stops of the Zaragoza public bicycle service, which had been under renovation to return to service starting tomorrow January 15, I hadn't had the chance to see the new models of bikes, but what ended up taking all my attention was the thin layer of ice that was forming on the surface of the bicycles. At that moment I realized that it was -2 degrees and I was finally convinced that the best thing to do would be to cancel the walk. For me that's too cold already.

In spite of it all, I found the thin ice structures I came across beautiful, the symmetry in nature fascinates me. Another thing that caught my attention while I was undoing my way were several posters promoting activities, January is a month of beginnings and many schools promote their classes and workshops. There are offers of anything and everything it seems, but it caught my attention to see posters of a photography school in that area, something that I keep postponing, I don't know for how long. I liked the martial arts school poster a lot, but interesting to me was the functional training program. I also saw an event that involves coffee, this one is public and it might be worthwhile to find out what it is about.

Llevaba unos buenos días saliendo a caminar en la mañana, luchando contra el frío y aprovechando para hacer pasos a primera hora del día, hasta hoy. Últimamente no tengo tiempo para salir por las tardes a pasear, además, no me gusta nada que oscurezca tan pronto.

Bueno, hoy también salí a caminar muy temprano, pero después de tan solo 20 minutos desistí y regresé a casa. En el corto camino de vuelta, me acerqué a una de las nuevas paradas del servicio de bicicletas públicas de Zaragoza, que había estado siendo renovado para volver a prestar servicio a partir de mañana 15 de enero, no había tenido la oportunidad de ver los nuevos modelos de bicicletas, pero lo que terminó llevándose toda mi atención fue la fina capa de hielo que se estaba formando en la superficie de las bicicletas. En ese momento me percaté que estábamos a -2 grados y terminé de convencerme que lo mejor sería cancelar el paseo. Para mi eso es muy frío ya.

A pesar de todo, me parecieron lindas las delgadas estructuras de hielo que me encontré, la simetría en la naturaleza me fascina. Otra cosa que llamo mi atención mientras deshacía mi camino fueron varios carteles promoviendo actividades, enero es un mes de comienzos y muchas escuelas promocionan sus clases y talleres. Hay ofertas de todo al parecer, pero me llamo la atención ver carteles de una escuela de fotografía por esa zona, algo que sigo posponiendo, no sé hasta cuando. El cartel de la escuela de artes marciales me gusto mucho, pero interesante me precio fue la propuesta d entrenamiento funcional. También vi una actividad que involucra café, esta es pública y quizás valga la pena averiguar de que se trata.

The truth is that the best decision was to go home, shortly after arriving I saw that a strong wind started, that makes the thermic sensation much worse and I was almost freezing when I arrived. My ears were very sensitive and my legs were freezing. It was a mistake on my side not to check the weather before leaving, but I did not expect such a sudden change, I had left at the same time a few days before and I had no major problem. The truth is that I should have learned by now that you can't let your guard down when it comes to the temperature in this city, but I still fall into the trap of being naive or forgetful.

Besides, my head hasn't finished saying goodbye to the tropical weather I was able to enjoy in my December travels, so let's say I'm rebooting my operating system yet. The good thing was that I brought a good shipment of coffee from Colombia, it is my favorite bean and it is really comforting to be able to prepare a cup of good hot coffee after running away from the cold.

La verdad es que la mejor decisión fue irme a casa, poco después de llegar vi que comenzó un viento bastante fuerte, eso empeora muchísimo la sensación térmica y yo estaba casi congelada cuando llegue. Las orejas las tenía muy sensibles y las piernas súper heladas. Fue un descuido de mi parte no revisar el tiempo antes de salir, pero no me esperaba un cambio tan brusco, había salido a la misma hora días anteriores y no tuve mayor problema. La verdad es que ya debería haber aprendido que no se puede bajar la guardia en cuanto a la temperatura en esta ciudad, pero sigo pecando de ingenua u olvidadiza.

Además mi cabeza no ha terminado de despedirse del clima tropical que pude disfrutar en mis viajes de diciembre, así que digamos que estoy reiniciando mi sistema operativo aun. Lo bueno fue que del vine a Colombia me traje un buen cargamento de café, es mi grano favorito y la verdad que resulta reconfortante poder preparar un taza de buen café calentita luego de estarle huyendo al frío.

In the afternoon I tried to go for a walk again, the outcome was different but not as good as I had pictured. Again I overlooked checking the temperatures, I just let myself be carried away by the radiant sun I could see from the window.

I got myself to an acceptable 7 degrees, I can handle that temperature with no problems and not too much warmth, but again I forgot the wind factor. The walk lasted longer than the one in the morning, but it wasn't enough to get me over 10k steps, a pity, but it's just that it's pretty good at home.

I was walking for an hour or so, well walking and stopping at places where the sun was shining directly on me to warm up a bit. So I couldn't say it was a productive hour of walking, but I did take the chance to take pictures of the beautiful sky I was under.

January is not the best month to get flowers to photograph, however the buds of the wild roses stand out among the many dry branches in the surroundings.

I decided to focus then on some sunny spaces that provided nice illumination to the places where I was, thinking of being able to illustrate today's walk in some way.

Por la tarde intenté salir a caminar otra vez, el resultado fue diferente aunque no tan bueno como me imaginaba. Nuevamente pase por alto revisar las temperaturas, tan sólo me deje llevar por el radiante sol que veía desde la ventana.

Me conseguí con unos 7 grados aceptables, esa temperatura puedo manejarla sin problema ni demasiado abrigo, pero de nuevo olvidé el factor del viento. El paseo duró más que el de la mañana, pero no llegó a ser suficiente para sobrepasar los 10k pasos, una lástima, pero es que en casa se está muy bien.

Estuve caminando una hora más o menos, bueno caminando y deteniéndome en los espacios en donde incidía directamente el sol para calentarme un poco. Así que no podría decir que fue una hora de caminata productiva, lo que sí aproveché para hacerle fotos al bonito cielo bajo el que estaba.

Enero no es el mes más adecuado para conseguir flores que fotografiar, sin embargo los capullos de las rosas silvestres resaltan entre las muchas ramas secas que hay en los alrededores.

Decidí enfocarme entonces en algunos espacios soleados que brindaban bonita iluminación a los lugares por donde estuve, pensando en poder ilustrar de alguna forma el paseo de hoy.

I found the public areas very empty, even though it was school let-out time.
I guess it wasn't too much like hanging around playing in the parks or chatting in the streets. The good thing about that is that it wasn't difficult to take pictures without anyone coming out, if I had worn gloves I probably would have gotten more pictures, but the freezing wind made me think hard every moment if I dared to take my hands out of my pockets for a long time.

The predominant colors, thanks to the sunny day, were the striking blue of the sky, the dark green of the bushes and the inevitable brown of the ground. Let's not forget that Zaragoza is a desert, a very beautiful city of course, but with very arid lands everywhere. The contrast of these colors has always seemed attractive to me, when I walk around the city I always think of all the postcards that I could create with the landscapes so distinctive of Zaragoza, more mundane landscapes and different from the tourist spots. Postcards that are in my head and in these reports that give me the possibility to share these frames that I see and make me feel that I am really connected to the earth.

I've seen pictures of many people, surrounded by snow and going through much more extreme temperatures, it is insignificant to complain in my situation, but it seemed to me an important anecdote to put here, because it has turned out to be a real impediment to maintain a pace with which I have felt quite committed lately. I think I should have compensated it with some exercise at home, but the truth is that I have been thinking about it just now hahahaha I have pending to resume the publications with my training chart, it is a very useful way to track my physical activity and be more aware of how much or how little I do during the week.

January and the resolutions. Let's see what happens this year.

Me encontré con las zonas públicas muy vacías, a pesar de que era hora de salida de las escuelas. Imagino que no apetecía mucho quedarse jugando en los parques o charlando en las calles. Lo bueno de eso es que no fue difícil hacer fotos sin que saliera alguna persona, si hubiese llevado unos guantes probablemente hubiese conseguido más fotos, pero el viento helado me hacía pensar bien a cada momento si me atrevía a sacar durante mucho rato las manos de mis bolsillos.

Los colores predominantes gracias al día soleado, eran el llamativo azul del cielo, el oscuro verde de los arbustos y el inevitable marrón de la tierra. No olvidemos que Zaragoza es un desierto, una ciudad muy bonita claro, pero con tierras muy áridas por doquier. El contrate de esos colores siempre me ha parecido atractivo, cuando paseo por l ciudad siempre pienso en todas ls postales que me podría inventar con los paisajes tan característicos de Zaragoza, paisajes más mundanos y diferentes a los puntos turísticos. Postales que están en mi cabeza y en estos reportes que me permiten compartir esos encuadres que veo y que me hacen sentir que estoy realmente conectada a la tierra.

He visto fotos de muchas personas, rodeadas de nieve y atravesando temperaturas mucho más extremas, resulta insignificante quejarse en mi situación, pero me pareció una anécdota importante para dejar por aquí, pues ha resultado ser un impedimento real para mantener un ritmo con el que me he sentido bastante comprometida últimamente. Creo que debí compensarlo con un poco de ejercicio en casa, pero la verdad es que sólo ahora es que se me ha ocurrido eso jajajaja tengo pendiente retomar las publicaciones con mi tabla de entrenamientos, es una manera muy útil de hacer seguimiento a mi actividad física y ser más consiente de lo mucho o poco que hago durante la semana.

Enero y eso de los propósitos. A ver qué pasa este año.
