Now that the NYE euphoria is slowly settling in, I am facing my goals and resolutions with a little bit more realistic approach and that's what I want to share with you in this post...

Every year I set goals, resolutions and intentions even though I don't accomplish majority of them. I just love the new beginning, fresh start vibe and I cannot resist writing down all kinds of things I would like to achieve or do during that specific year. I did this again on December 31st and as you can imagine, my motivation was over the roof and my list ended up being long and full of goals in every aspect of my life.

I still have some of that motivation left but I will take some time to revisit my long list and really think about what is important to me. I do like the idea of setting goals/resolutions for every aspect of life - relationships, career/studies, finances, spirituality, hobbies, fun stuff and so on... What I'm going to do is pick a few big goals that are very important to me and then within each category I will set some smaller goals or just some ideas/things I can do to improve that specific area. For example when it comes to relationships one of the things I can do is to stay in touch with my closest friends on regular basis, take time to see them regularly and just stay more connected.

Another thing I like to do during this time of the year is to reflect on the previous year, I made a post about my 2021. that I will link at the end of this post and that was really insightful for me. Journaling also really helps and making list of everything I am grateful for in 2021.

Quarterly and monthly goals

For me personally I think that setting quarterly goals would be the best. My big goals remind me of a domino effect, one thing falls after another, accomplishing one goals sets the foundation for the next one and so on... Monthly goals are just another way to be more specific and realistic, avoiding the overwhelm that I often feel when I think of big goals. It's also a lot easier to create daily to-do lists when goals are broken down like this.

Final thoughts

Even though I am someone who writes down absolutely everything, none of this planning/wishing will actually work unless I put in an effort and take action. Past few months my life has changed a lot just by taking action and not waiting for things to just happen. Taking responsibility and acting upon my goals was a big lesson I learned lately and I really want to bring that into this year as well. I have a lot of hopes for 2022. not just for myself but for people in my life and the world in general.

Are you also that type of person who sets New Year's goals and resolutions or all this euphoria doesn't affect you? :D
