As a kid,I always wanted to grow up fast so I can also say I’m a big girl. Those days I would try to back any baby I see around whether I knew them or not. Once I almost got into trouble, so I moved to babying my doll. I made sure my mom gave me a big blanket just for my doll and even cooking utensils. What on earth was I thinking then?😅
The sad part is, no one told me this was how the adult life was like. As I gradually aged into who I am today, I’ve had so many experiences both good and bad. Now I understand what my parents meant when they used to tell me ‘wob3 nyini ab3to’ which translates into you’d grow to understand. Life as an adult is really not as easy as it looks but it’s not as hard as it looks also. There’s always that one thing that makes things better.
There are so many things that comes with adulting, both good and bad but today, let’s focus on the good part.
The first thing I love about adulting is getting to spend your own money, that’s if you even have it. 😂😂 As a child, I always used to depend on my parents for everything but at some point I felt I was disturbing them. Even though it’s their responsibility to take care of you to some extent, once you start growing it’s just normal for you to feel weird about it. Sometimes you’d even feel reluctant to ask them for money.
I’ve always wanted to be able to make my own money so I wouldn’t have to bother anyone for it. I’m not one to ask others for stuff and so this was really important to me. Now, I am working and earning something of my own and I get to spend it how I want. Having your own money has to be the best feeling every.
Next, I’d say one thing I love about adulthood is being able to go on adventures. Growing up with over protective parents can just be something else. Even though my parents were overprotective growing up, I had the freedom to do what I wanted, to some extent. One thing I love doing is travelling and exploring but I couldn’t do that because my parents wouldn’t really want me to travel far all in the name of exploring at a tender age.
If I plan to do something or go somewhere today , all I would need to do is call them to inform them about it. They deserve that and also for emergency sake, I make sure they always know of my whereabouts. Over the past years, I’ve had so much fun traveling and exploring the world but if I was 10 years old I would probably not be able to do that on my own.
Achieving your goals , both long term and short term and celebrating your victories has to be the best part of adulting no one tells you about. Personally, anytime I achieve a goal I make sure to applaud myself because I deserve it.
Talking about victories. Sometimes, I dedicate so much of my time and energy to be successful in something and when at that moment I am told I succeeded I just don’t know how to act. All I can do is smile or just laugh cos is this real? Most of us experience some rush of joy and we all have ways to express it, mine is to just be quiet and let everything sink in well. It’s after I realize it’s not a dream thats a when the party begins!
As Dalai Lama said, the purpose of life is to be happy so, make sure to be happy every second of your life no matter how hard it is.
