I needed an event number 2 to make my Wilson index on my parkrun event challenge app get over the 100 mark. For a while I had a few gaps after regularly running my same local event from when it first started. The gaps were from when I had to work or was away. Lower event number are hard to find unless something starts nearby. Koopa Trail was new back in 2021 so we drove about an hour north of Brisbane. 205 other people showed up as well.
The S.S. Koopa trail was named after an old ship that used to make its way between Brisbane and Bribie Island before they made the bridge. Koopa is an aboriginal word for flying fish. It is not really a trail as I known them, but I suppose it was before the concreted it.
Photo credits to the parkrun volunteer photographer. I even picked up a volunteer stat as well for barcode scanning as soon as I finished my run. The other scanner had an issue, and I was able to step in and help.
The event starts and finishes in the Bribie Island Lions Park. It is a two lap course along the S.S. Koopa Trail adjacent to the beautiful Pumicestone Passage. A pretty fast and flat paved run where you get to see the leaders and everyone else multiple times.
