Victory Heights trail was my 69th different parkrun event, it was tough with one hundred metres of elevation gain, on a lot of narrow one-way single-track trail. Tough but good everyone was in the same boat. The start point is wide enough to sort of get self-seeded over the first kilometre. It is located just over two hours’ drive north of Brisbane, very close to Gympie, an old Queensland gold rush town. It is sort of one of those new suburbs built near a regional centre. I would expect the average house to be pretty cheap this far out from a Capital city but 850K Aud seems to be right up there as well.

Passing was pretty difficult on some of the more technically part so it pays to work as hard as you can early on and make everyone have to pass you instead.

We ended meeting a few other keen parkrun tourists as well.

This guy ”Tony” actually did 8 different parkrun countries in 8 weeks in Europe, I think he was first, and they named that challenge after him. I think it is pretty easy to focus on the Scandinavian countries and then a few others in western Europe, but it is still a lot of travelling and moving. I cannot remember what the occasion was, but I don’t think he always wears the tutu. He was pretty keen because he also volunteered for course set up and check before we ran.

With an average finish time 38 minutes it very much reminds me of Nambour, not quite as much elevation gain but more than enough to slow you down and really get you working. Thirty minutes was a bit slow for me, but I will take it after a long early drive from Brisbane. Toilets and a cafe nearby but watch for the mountain bike and wildlife on this multi-use recreational area.
