Being a rap artist has given Vicky many opportunities, great songs that have propelled her to the top, the chance to work with major figures in the industry, and the shelves in her house are overflowing with awards and accolades of all kinds. Even though all of this stems from rap, and she's grateful for the opportunity to be part of the music scene, she's never been completely at ease. And that's because of how she got into rap.
It wasn't a decision she took lightly. It all goes back to her past, when she didn't yet know which direction her music career would take. Back then, she just wanted to sing and leave her mark somehow—the typical desire of many at the beginning. There were three musical genres she had in mind, and she was internally torn between them. Whichever she chose would largely define her career, as it was the genre she would start singing in and be remembered for.
Those genres were folk, pop, and, far from her sight, rock. She liked all three of them a lot, and she had heard of each one as a great singer. She wanted to follow in their footsteps and one day become like them. But before she could decide and choose one of the three to launch her career, something happened.

A pesar de que todo esto proviene de rap y ella de cierta forma está agradecida con el y de tener la oportunidad de formar parte de la música de esta manera ella nunca ha estado a gusto. Y eso por cómo llegó al rap.
No fue una decisión propia que tomara a la ligera. Todo se remonta a su pasado, donde aún no sabía que rumbo iba a tomar en la música. Cuando aquello solo deseaba cantar y poder dejar su huella de alguna forma. Lo típico que buscan muchos al inicio. Había 3 géneros musicales que tenía en mente y por los cuales tenía una batalla interna por decidirse. El que escogiera definiría en gran parte su carrera ya que con el era que iba a empezar a cantar y seria recordada.
Esos géneros eran la música folk, el pop, y muy lejos a su vista el rock. Le gustaban muchos los 3, y en cada uno tenía referencias de buenos cantantes. Ella quería seguir su ejemplo y poder llegar aún día a ser como ellos. Pero antes de que pudiera decidir y escoger uno de los 3 para arrancar su carrera algo pasó.

Her best friend Beti and Carlos had recently started rapping and were doing incredibly well. They had already released a few songs and were receiving critical acclaim for their work. Before deciding on a genre, Beti and Carlos asked her to collaborate on a song. They needed a good singer for a track they wanted to record. However, the person who was going to help them couldn't due to scheduling conflicts. So they thought of Vicky, who was a very good singer.
Since she got along well with them, she didn't want to refuse. Besides, it would only involve singing, nothing too complicated. Beti taught her how to rap, and in no time, she knew exactly what to do in the song. They recorded and released the track, and then performed it live. The song went viral, so Vicky's image was everywhere, and she quickly became known as a rap artist. She had unknowingly been thrust into the genre.
Thanks to that song, she earned a lot of money and recognition. When she wanted to return to the genres she had originally planned, Beti and Carlos told her that with everything she had achieved in rap, that was the path she should follow. She already had a personal brand, and her name was everywhere. She could take advantage of that momentum to continue. They were right, and Michael understood the logic behind their words. So she listened to them. And that's how she seriously got started in rap.
Su mejor amiga Beti y Carlos hacia poco habían comenzado en el rap y les iba de lo mejor, ya habían lanzado algunas canciones y ya la critica los alababa por el buen trabajo que estaban haciendo. Pues Beti y Carlos le ofrecieron a ella antes de decidir el genero que los apoyara en una canción. Necesitaban a un buen cantante para una canción que querían hacer. Pero el que los iba a ayudar no pudo por problemas de tiempo y agenda. Entonces pensaron en Vicky que sabía cantar muy bien.
Ella como se llevaba muy bien con ellos no quiso rechazar darles la ayuda. Además solo sería cantar nada del otro mundo. Beti le enseño como cantar rap y en un tiempo ya sabía que hacer en la canción. Grabaron la canción y la lanzaron y luego la cantaron en vivo. Esta canción fue muy viral, por tanto la imagen de Vicky se vio en todas partes y fue enseguida conocida como una cantante de rap. Le habían auto impuesto el género sin saber.
Gracias a esa canción ella ganó mucho dinero y reconocimiento, cuando ella quiso volver a los géneros que tenía pensado inicialmente Beti y Carlos le dijeron que con todo lo que había conseguido en el rap ese era el camino que debía seguir. Ya tenía marca personal y su nombre estaba en todas partes. Podía aprovechar ese arranque para continuar. Ellos tenían razón y Michael avió la lógica detrás de sus palabras. Así que les hizo caso. Y fue así como empezó en serio en el rap.

From there, she continued in rap, where she won all her awards and achieved all kinds of success. But she was never truly comfortable with music; from the beginning, she always felt out of place. She wasn't cut out for that genre, despite everything she had achieved. That's why she decided to leave rap. This decision was harshly criticized by everyone—her friends, her collaborators.
And the truth is, no one knew how she felt. She explained why she was leaving the life she had built: she was doing it to feel fulfilled, to feel that she was making the music that truly represented her. Perhaps she waited too long to do it, but she couldn't go on like that anymore. She now plans to pursue pop, something she has always loved but never had the chance to try. She feels happy about what this change means, but she is also afraid of what the future holds. But whatever comes, she'll face whatever comes; better happy with nothing than sad with everything—that's her philosophy of life.
A partir de ahí ella siguió en el rap y fue donde ganó todos su premios y todo tipos de éxitos. Pero nunca estuvo a gusto con música, desde el comienzo siempre se sintió fuera de lugar. Ella no estaba hecha para ese genero a pesar de todo lo que había ganado ahí. Por eso fue que decidió dejar el rap. Esta decisión fue duramente criticada por todos, sus amigos, sus colaboradores.
Y es que nadie sabía como ella se sentía. Ella aclaró por que dejaba la vida que había construido, lo hacia para poder sentirse realizada, para sentir que hacia la música que de verdad la representaba. Quizás esperó mucho para hacerlo, pero ya no podía seguir así. Planea ahora irse por el pop, algo que siempre le gustó y nunca pudo probar. Se siente feliz por lo que este cambio significa, pero si siente miedo de lo que depara el futuro. Pero nada, de frente a lo que venga, mejor feliz sin anda que triste con todo, esa es su filosofía de vida.
