I was cleaning my bookshelf when an old notebook slipped onto the floor.
It was my diary from secondary school.
Curious, I flipped through the pages until I found a sentence that had been heavily underlined in blue ink:
"One day, you will be proud of how far you've come."
I smiled.
I remembered writing those words on a day when I felt like a failure. Nothing seemed to be going right, and I doubted myself constantly. So, I wrote that sentence and underlined it, hoping my future self would read it someday.
As I sat there holding the notebook, I realized something.
Life had not turned out exactly as I had imagined. There were disappointments, mistakes, and unexpected turns. But there were also victories, lessons, and growth.
I wasn't where I dreamed of being yet, but I had come a long way from the insecure teenager who wrote those words.
I ran my fingers over the faded blue line beneath the sentence.
Sometimes, all we need is one underlined reminder that our story is still being written.
