I am someone who lives in a cave, I have been called Neandental, Cromañon and lately there are some like me out there who are called Homoerectus.
Recently there is a new fashion in which many build their dwellings on the surface of the earth, I think it is valid, however when we bury our dead in caves we spend more time in them because we feel protected by our ancestors.
To survive the cold and even the heat I have had to wear animal skins, I must go from place to place to hunt and gather food and other supplies.
There are other very striking beings similar to us that complement us and help to perpetuate us by carrying within themselves our descendants called women.
We must provide resources, (wood and stone), and defend our tribe, but I must recognize that women have helped us to hunt and gather.
Additionally, they maintain, prepare and preserve food, sew and make clothing, maintain a new discovery called fire, and clean the living space.
I and my tribe go from place to place to hunt and gather food and other supplies, so we need to protect ourselves and sometimes there are no caves in sight. We have no choice but to camp, which has left its mark for generations, so future cavemen know the location of these camps.
In these camps, the first thing we do when we arrive is to open holes in the ground and then fix strong pieces of wood to them, propped up with stones, once we make these we tie a large expanse of mammoth skin to them and thus protect ourselves from the rain, sun and wind. We make use of fire and wood (campfires), to appease the cold of the night or simply to cook some prey.
If in the place we get stones with these we proceed to sharpen some tools that we will use in the hunting or fishing of animals. When we leave the place to return with food to the site where the tribe is, we dig pits to dump the remains of the animals that we consumed in those days together with pieces of stone, and occasionally with the remains of other members of tribes that invaded us and attacked us to steal what we had hunted so hard.
I have heard of a tribe that uses mammoth remains with branches and skins to settle in a place, with it they build a kind of cave which they call huts, even many like me and some women stay long periods of time in that place.
I remember eating plants and herbs, fruits and vegetables along with some insects and progressively some kind of animal meat. Once fire was discovered, someone came up with the idea of experimenting with cooked food.
I and the tribe began to intensify our meat consumption, coming from hunting and fishing animals, such as: deer, cattle, rabbits, or various fish. Our elders began to give some cattle (bulls) a religious meaning, so they were hunted only for rituals.
We realized that it was possible to domesticate certain species and so we began to raise animals for consumption without the need to spend resources to hunt them. In the same way, we started planting plants to feed these animals, realizing that these plants were also suitable for our consumption.
I began to represent inside the caves how my daily life was and the other members of my tribe began to imitate me. I used materials such as tree bark, egg yolks and animal blood to make my drawings.
Today I feel a little bad, I see that they sacrificed a bull and the oldest members of the tribe talk to something in the night sky white, and something that comes out some time later glowing and yellow, gather around me women and some very small beings that over the years have been growing and have some resemblance to me ...
With this story I mimic what I believe was the life of a caveman, a being who possessed human nature and the ability to discover creative solutions in a dangerous, hostile and wild world. I describe his evolution within a fiction that I believe is not very far from reality, of course with inaccuracies and omissions for which I must apologize to those who read my publication.
