This weekend we are spending a few different days thanks to some friends who invited us to enjoy La Costa, a recreational area located on the outskirts of the city of Matanzas, Cuba.
We left on Friday and will return home on Monday morning, so we still have a few hours to enjoy before going back to our routine. I had never been here before, although our friends already knew the place.
We are staying in a cabin with beautiful wooden decor, surrounded by a lovely green area full of plants. It has a swimming pool for children and another one for adults, as well as a water slide that, as you can imagine, became one of the main attractions for the little ones.

Although there are other houses nearby, the place feels quite private and, above all, very peaceful. We only have cell service for a few hours a day and, although at first I thought it might be a little uncomfortable, it ended up being one of the best things about this weekend. It has allowed us to step away a little from our phones, our responsibilities, and everything that normally occupies our minds.
It feels like being in a small spiritual retreat. A simple place, but with that kind of peace that we sometimes need to feel at peace with ourselves again.
Our friends have children and my boyfriend and I don't, so during these days we happily took on our role as uncles. We have spent quite a lot of time with them, playing in the pool, taking care of them, and sharing moments that we don't normally have the opportunity to experience. It has been really nice to enjoy this quality time together.

We have also shared delicious food, stories, games, music, dancing, and, of course, a few attempts at fishing in the sea, which ended up being more fun because of the laughter than because of the results. Let's just say fishing wasn't exactly our strong point this weekend.
Yesterday, Saturday, it also rained. It definitely wasn't the most ideal weather for enjoying a weekend outdoors, but even that became part of the experience. In the end, the most important thing wasn't for everything to go perfectly, but to enjoy nature, get some rest, and spend time with the people we love.
These days have been a real break from the monotony of everyday life. Sometimes we don't need to make big plans or travel very far to feel that we have truly rested. Simply changing our surroundings, breathing different air, listening to nature, and spending time together without rushing can be enough.
Tomorrow it's time to go back home, to our routine and reality. But we will return with our batteries recharged, many good memories, and, above all, with the promise of having more weekends like this one someday.
Because I believe we all need to step away from everything from time to time, so we can come back with renewed energy.
