It's no secret that during Easter week those of us who stay at home feel like eating and inventing recipes, so in my case that's what happened, my partner wanted to eat sweet arepitas and I said let's get to work, besides it's very simple and tasty to eat for breakfast, dinner or snack.
Sweet arepitas remind me a lot of my childhood, my mom always made a snack for my sisters and me at three o'clock in the afternoon, this was one of them and it was great for me to try this treat with sweet anise and papelon. Besides, when I got out of school there was a grocery store where they sold them and I always bought them after school, the truth is that they were cold and stiff but they tasted very good (hahaha).
Ingredientes
1 Taza de harina de maíz precocida
2 cucharadas de semillas de anis dulces
1 pizca de sal
1 taza de agua
1 taza de aceite para freir
1/2 litro de jugo de papelon
Now we start with the preparation and ingredients.
Ingredients
1 cup of precooked corn flour
2 tablespoons of sweet anise seeds
1 pinch of salt
1 cup of water
1 cup of oil for frying
1/2 liter of papelon juice
Preparation
Mix the flour, aniseed and a pinch of salt in a container.
Create a hole in the center and then apply the papelon water with the rest of the water, mix everything (with washed hands) and let the dough rest while heating the oil in the frying pan over medium high heat.
We make small balls with the dough and flatten them with our hands until they are very thin.
Fry the arepas in the hot oil (so that they are puffed) and brown on both sides.
Remove them and let them drain on napkins or a plate.
They are preferably eaten hot or cold (according to your taste) you can eat them alone or with cheese and butter.
Now all that remains is to eat and enjoy this simple but delicious and fun recipe.
