Hello, friends of the world and beer lovers. Today I want to share with you in The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 409 one more beer made in my country: Venezuela.
Thursday May 1 was commemorated in Venezuela as Workers' Day, so I saw no better way to celebrate my day than relaxing at home and having some Regional beers.
In Venezuela there are two large brewing companies that have a monopoly on the entire beer market: Empresas Polar and Cervecería Regional. Previously I have already shared with you two types of beer brands made by the latter company (Zulia and Morena) and today we will taste La Regional Pilsen.
As its name indicates, this is a Pilsen beer made with ingredients such as malted barley, water, hops and degerminated corn. Its bottle is amber in color and this presentation is a 222ml returnable bottle. In Venezuela it is normal for some families to sell beers at their homes, so I took four bottles to a house near mine and bought four Regional.
It must be said that this beer is delicious, it has a mild bitterness, its foam is thick, and the malty smell and taste give it a perfect balance on the palate. It has a good 5° and a value of $0.60.
As I mentioned before, this brewing company has been in Venezuela for more than 95 years, but the regional beer was launched in 2000, with the Catira slogan, perhaps in an attempt to differentiate itself from its closest competitor: Polarcita beer, better known as “la negrita” because of its dark bottle.
While I was drinking the beers and taking pictures, I was thinking about which would be the best way to drink beers: in a glass or in its own bottle? I have been to places where the women are served beers in glasses and the men are left in the bottle.
Personally, if the glass is cold, I like to pour it in a glass, otherwise I don't, because I feel it loses temperature and body. I always like to taste the beer straight from the bottle. Am I going against the rules? Socially or culturally it's not seen as okay for a woman to put a bottle in her mouth? I don't know. What is certain is that celebrating with a beer is the best and if the beer is Regional Pilsen, so much the better.
This is my participation in the #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 409, sponsored and promoted by the magnificent @detlev and the #beer community. 🍻🍺
