Tara tiene un secreto

Este no es el nombre de Tara: ella tiene un secreto. Nadie sabe cuál es ese secreto, ni siquiera su familia ni sus mejores amigos. Por temor, su secreto jamás ha sido escrito en un diario, ni en la arena del mar ni en la corteza de los árboles. Tara no confía y por eso no habla con nadie, lo mantiene encerrado en su pecho y en su corazón.

Ella tampoco sabía, pero un día lo supo y le dio mucho miedo saber todo aquello, por lo que lloró muchas noches, bajito para que nadie la escuchara, sintiéndose culpable por no poder confesarse, no poder revelar lo que había descubierto. El pecho lo cargaba apretado siempre, como a punto de explotarle, y Tara se mordía los labios y se tapaba la boca para mantenerse callada.

Recuerda que cuando lo supo, ya estaba grande, aunque algo en ella lo intuía, pero lo silenciaba. Fue aquella tarde que jugando todos a las escondidas, le dio por esconderse en el carro viejo de Don Víctor. Allí ya estaba Alejandro, quien le dijo que se pusiera al lado. Eran buenos amigos, tal vez los mejores, por eso no intuyó nada malo cuando Alejandro le rozó la espalda y le dijo que guardara silencio porque si hacía bulla, los encontrarían. Entonces guardaron silencio y Tara sintió un escalofrío que le recorría todo el cuerpo.

Después de eso, Tara empezó a ver a Alejandro con otros ojos y lo que le provocaba su amigo, le daba miedo. A raíz de esos sentimientos, empezó a pasar gran parte del tiempo frente al espejo. Allí pasaba horas mirando su cuerpo. Adquirió la costumbre de encerrarse en su habitación y crear diálogos ficticios, encuentros furtivos, en los que su amigo llegaba y le rozaba la espalda. También empezó a maquillarse, utilizar tacones, caminar como una modelo, mientras reía y regalaba besos al espejo.

Por eso Tara tiene un secreto que no puede confesárselo a nadie, ni siquiera puede susurrárselo al viento. Su familia no lo entendería, ni sus amigos, ni sus maestros. Cómo podría decirles que él no es un hombre sino una mujer, atrapada en aquel cuerpo. Por eso cuando todos los llaman Antonio, él responde, oculta su verdadera personalidad y mantiene el misterio.

Tara has a secret

This is not Tara's name: she has a secret. No one knows what that secret is, not even her family or her best friends. Out of fear, her secret has never been written in a diary, neither in the sand of the sea nor in the bark of the trees. Tara doesn't trust and that's why she doesn't talk to anyone, she keeps it locked in her chest and in her heart.

She didn't know either, but one day she found out and was very afraid to know everything, so she cried many nights, quietly so no one would hear her, feeling guilty for not being able to confess, not being able to reveal what she had discovered. Her chest was always tight, as if it was about to explode, and Tara bit her lips and covered her mouth to keep quiet.

She remembers that when she knew it, she was already grown up, although something in her sensed it, but she kept it quiet. It was that afternoon when they were all playing hide-and-seek, she decided to hide in Don Victor's old car. Alejandro was already there, and he told her to go next to him. They were good friends, maybe the best, so she did not sense anything wrong when Alejandro rubbed her back and told her to keep quiet because if she made noise, they would be found. Then they were silent and Tara felt a shiver run through her body.

After that, Tara began to see Alejandro with different eyes and what her friend was provoking her, frightened her. As a result of these feelings, she began to spend much of her time in front of the mirror. There she spent hours looking at her body. He got into the habit of locking himself in his room and creating fictitious dialogues, furtive encounters, in which his friend would come and rub his back. She also began to put on make-up, wear high heels, walk like a model, while laughing and giving kisses to the mirror.

That's why Tara has a secret that she can't confess to anyone, she can't even whisper it to the wind. Her family wouldn't understand, nor her friends, nor her teachers. How could she tell them that he is not a man but a woman, trapped in that body. That's why when everyone calls him Antonio, he answers, hides his true personality and keeps the mystery.
