With age there is a lot that keeps changing in our body. As we age suddenly there are some triggers which had never been there before. All this while I had never been allergic to any type of food, but in the last one year I noticed that I started getting allergic to acidic foods. In the beginning I started getting some skin rashes, and I was not sure what could be the reason for it. I first thought it was some temporary issue, but then the problem kept increasing. I would continuously apply Aloe gel and with that it would settle down but then again flair up as soon as I would stop applying the gel.
After a month, it was getting very irritating as never in my life I had any skin issues. I visited my Ayurvedic Doctor finally to get it checked what possibly could be the issue. He told me that possibly I was getting allergic to some foods, and he asked me to stop acidic and sweet foods for some time. Sweets anyways I do not consume much, but acidic foods yes like lemon juice, pomegranate, grapes are my favorites and I consume them regularly. I stopped it for a period of 2 weeks and I started seeing the difference. The rash started reducing. He had also given me some herbal medicines. With that I had a doubt in my mind if it was the medicine working or the foods that I stopped was showing the effect.
Then to just experiment it again, I stopped the medicines and started consuming the foods again, and the rash again came up. This time more severe, so I stopped it completely once again, and then over a period of 2 to 3 weeks I saw the difference. So it was sure for me now that the acidic foods were reacting on my body. I had never had any problems till this time and now suddenly so I was surprised. But then I guess with age our body hormones keep changing and there are certain reactions.
For almost 10 months I completely stopped consuming citric foods and the rash cured completely. Last month I started with a little consumption once again to see if there was any reaction, and thankfully there is none. I guess my body is back to normal with no more allergic reactions to citrus.
