From my own life experiences I feel that the feeling of jealousy changes with age. In our younger years this feeling is stronger. If our best friend talks to some one we feel jealous, if our spouse gets friendly with someone we feel jealous, if someone in office is getting more appreciation then us then we feel jealous. But I really feel that as we age these feelings start getting lesser.

True jealousy is a feeling that comes from insecurity. The insecurity we feel of losing our close people, or the insecurity of other people moving ahead of us in life and we being left behind. The jealousy of someone being better then us. All of these feeling crop up from insecurities and lack of self-esteem and self-confidence that we have.

In the early years of being friends with my bestie I had a lot of insecurity of losing her, and I did show it openly to her. If she would plan anything without my knowledge I would not like it. At that point of time in my life I did not have many friends. She was the one I was very close to, and I did not want to lose her. I was never jealous about hubby talking to other girls and getting friendly but I was jealous when my bestie would get close to other people. It was a new friendship, still building and both of us had our insecurities in our relationship. As years went by we came to an understanding that no matter what we are both important for each other. People will come and go from our life but we both will always be there for each other. When this feeling sinked in completely, the feeling of jealousy also faded out.

At this stage of life, I do not feel jealous about anything, except for my son when he gives more importance to random girls then me.....haha....what to do I am a mother, and this feeling will always be there for me, no matter how old I get or he gets. How I handle it? To be true, at this age also I do not handle it well. I complaint to him and sometimes do not talk to him till he realizes. Yes, but I never make it serious or fight about it. It's just childish behaviour which we both laugh on at a later time.
