Take Time for Yourself, and the World Can Wait. (En/Ua)
Wishing everyone a beautiful new day!
“Take time for yourself, and the world can wait,” read a sign in a cozy coffee shop.
“I should definitely write something interesting today…” I thought to myself, as my eyes wandered over the decor. The place was filled with cat motifs. Interestingly, I had actually voted for dogs in their little poll because I find them more fair-minded than cats. But then again, every living creature deserves a decent life and respect. That’s just my perspective. As for me, I have a pet guinea pig who eats constantly and never seems to sleep—she just gets tired of eating.
After leaving the café, I walked deeper into the heart of the city. The wind was chasing fallen leaves all over the streets. They swirled and tumbled, caught up in the slipstream of passing cars and buses. I just stood there, watching them. Only yesterday, back in the countryside, it felt like summer was still holding on. But today, here in Lviv, golden autumn has officially arrived. It’s so beautiful! Every tree and every single leaf has its own season to be green. Autumn is a time when you can witness changes around you every single day—and, if you're lucky enough, inside yourself too.
Sometimes I think these walks of mine are a way to escape from the daily grind and the endless, repetitive chores at home. There is so much wonder all around us! Is it really worth trading it all for laundry, folding clothes, and constant washing up? Will anyone ever remember me for how clean my house was, or will they remember me for my quirkiness?
To be honest, I accomplished quite a lot today for October 2nd. I got my son up for school, helped a neighbor, bought groceries for the two of us, and picked up food for the guinea pig. But most importantly, I walked a lot. I’ve been dreaming for a long time of just wandering like this—through the streets, parks, public squares, and my favorite open-air art market, Vernisage. In the evening, I took my son to his swimming practice. He bought me a gift we had agreed on earlier.
And as I sat there waiting for him, black crows were circling in the dark sky above. I watched their wide, outstretched black wings and realized that they don't look for excuses or reasons—they simply feel the need for flight and air. Just like I did today. My long walks, my quirkiness, my ability to leave the chores behind for the sake of autumn in Lviv—this is my own kind of flight. Every now and then, just like these birds, we all need to spread our wings, take a breath of fresh air, and let the whole world wait. After all, the housework isn't going anywhere.
