I'm writing this post today to acknowledge someone that I recognize as being a special person...
I spent this morning doing the sorts of things a mother has to do. In the process, I have had to work with one bit of information that is hard to process (I won't go into that because it's not about me). Being the hard-edged chick that I like to see myself as - I just boxed it away and moved on with the day.
I went into the local pharmacy to get your basic script. The pharmacist is a lovely person who always chats with me when we have the time.
He knows I'm an ED nurse and often talks about my work and the hospital system in general. He noticed I was a bit distracted today and asked How I was - not just for an 'ok' answer but for the honest answer and in no time had me blubbing. Not something a normally do.
He listened to me and ignored the lady behind who probably just wanted her blood pressure script filled. Offered me a seat (not necessary) and then an open ear. In a minute I was back to sorts. With his open offer to come back and talk and keep him updated, I was sent on my way with a smile.
He and his partner run the pharmacy and I know there is no way I'm going anywhere else except there from now on. How sweet that the person in the shopping mall sees you and holds out a friendly hand. It makes a person special.
