So I am still trying to figure out this whole Bitcoin thing.
I DO believe in alternate monetary systems!! I think the way out of the mess of human economic systems is to find multiple vehicles for exchange. I also think that barter and trade are totally overlooked as means of payment or exchange in today's world. Based on some ridiculous prejudice, that probably comes down to programmed belief, based on the fact that it isn't subject to some kind of control or oversight by the powers that be.
I think that in most countries, the fact that you have only a single currency as the vehicle for negotiation of goods and services in any economy... that this is a problem. Especially in the United States of America where the Federal Reserve is a privately owned corporation, the administration of the only form of payment is a conflict of interest.
The bottom line I think, is that any form of currency has to be based on SOMETHING - something that secures its value. In the USA, money issued was originally based on the backing of gold in Fort Knox. It is not clear to me at all, just what it is that fuels the value of Bitcoin at its core.
Here is a good video with interesting perspectives on Bitcoin. Vladimir Putin has only a small contribution in this presentation, don't let the title fool you. The last speaker is the most informative although I don't know who he is. Well worth the watch.
