This is my post for #freewriters Thursday prompt glittering lights shining down hosted by @mariannewest
Even if we were not in a pandemic I would not be going out tonight. There just comes a time when you are over all the celebrations, the noise, the hearing drunks trying to start a fight with anyone who disagrees with them and trying to take someone's keys when you know they have had too much to drink and drive. The one and only thing I miss is watching the ball drop in NYC. I do not know what it is about the ball dropping but watching the glittering lights shining down has always excited me. The pandemic is not keeping me from watching this. I guess it is my age and or being dog ass tired from working so hard. I can barely keep my eyes open and it is only 7:30 pm.
Today I never caught a fish that I could keep, I thought to myself: this is a perfect way to end this year: So I am back in the red. My husband caught 145 pounds of mullet today so he did alright. I do not think either of us is going to go back until the wind lays down. It was blowing 25 to 30 knots out of the southeast. It makes for miserable fishing, trying to jig fish my boat was flying with the wind, I would throw my line out, jig it once and then reel real fast to catch up to it the jig one time and reel reel reel, it was aggravating. My husband had it worse trying to throw a 12-foot cast net in the wind. So we are both tired of it.
If you are going out tonight please wear your mask and do not let someone drive who has had too much to drink Happy New Year!!!!!
