Today I want to share with you pictures of the smallest bird in the world, Zunzuncito (Mellisuga helenae), one of the most difficult I have ever had to take due to its scarce 5 cm. It is very tiny and even locating them is an odyssey.
They only live in Cuba, and in very specific places.
To take these pictures I had to travel to La Ci茅naga de Zapata, in the province of Matanzas, where they can be found, thanks to the courtesy of a friend who is a local and his kindness in allowing me to see them in his backyard.
In truth, they are so tiny that most of the time you hear them vocalizing in the bushes, but it is very difficult to see them, only rarely do they stand still and let you photograph them. Luckily for me, there was a drinking fountain there and I was able to return home happy with my photo.
