Happy #NeedleworkMonday, everyone!

I was debating between two WIPs (works in progress) to start working on for this month. If you remember this post, I had a TON of options that I could choose to finish.

It had come down to a choice between the Farmers Market Tote Bag and the Simple Tank Top.

Then something happened last week that had me realize that sometimes, your projects will choose YOU.

I did not have a clean top to wear to work one day, so I had to wear one of my casual tee shirts with my skirt. I left my sweater at home, but I didn’t really get upset about it. It was going to be a light meeting day and I could hang out most of the day at my desk. Plus, I thankfully would not be meeting in the room that we lovingly call “Ice Tundra” - summer or winter, that particular room is always blasting the air conditioner.

I was walking back to my desk from an impromptu meeting with a few people, and my boss’s boss (the department manager) saw me and spoke. I smiled and spoke back. She asked if she could stop by my desk later, and I told her I would be there again at 2:30pm.

When she came by at the appointed time, she said, “Is everything okay?”

I looked puzzled, but said “Yes ma’am.”

She then said, “You do know that casual shirts are not allowed unless you have on a sweater or blazer, right?”

Uh-oh. I said, “I left my sweater at home and when I thought about it, I did not go back home to get it. I am sorry. It will not happen again.”

She then said, “You might need to invest in some more blouses or work tops so that you won’t have to grab a tee shirt in a pinch.”

Project decided for me.

So I will now be working on the crochet top again, with some updates. I was going to make the beginner tank top that I started a couple of years ago, but I saw another pattern that has more of a summer vibe, plus the shell pattern is super cute.

I had to undo all the stitches that I had already done and start over again. I have 3 regular sized balls of yarn, and the pattern calls for 6 of the small size. Doing the calculations, I should have enough for this project.

I’ll definitely keep my crafting family posted here in #NeedleworkMonday. Pray for me, since this is my first top and I’ll be wearing it to work at the end.... 😉
