Splinterlands Guide: Armored Up Ruleset!

This Splinterlands Guide deals with Armored Up Ruleset. This Ruleset gives to all monsters on the battlefield +2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. Which monsters should you use to win the battle? What is the best lineup? I going to show you my favorite strategies to take up against it.

Armore Up - how does it work?

Before going to full list of strategies, let's start with the basic knowledge about Armor Up Ruleset. All monsters start the game with additional +2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. As a result all physical melee and ranged attacks need to hit armor first and then can damage you opponent. The easiest way to increase your win rate is use of magic attackers. If your opponent doesn't know this trick it should be enought.

Remember! Your opponent may also be smart and use magic attackers. As a result you need to be prepared for magic spam. The best option is to place magic counter tank with Void, Void Shield or Phase ability. Off course high amount of HP is always very helpful.

Tips and Tricks

1. Magic - the trick here is to use magical monsters. Your opponents will probably do the same.
2. Use magic attackers with snipe to target enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position.
3. Magic Reflect - beware of the possibility that your opponent might pick Owster Rotwell Summoner and reflect all magic attacks.
4. Mix Team - The best option is balance team with all types of attacks: magic, melee and ranged monsters.
5. Debuffs - You can easlu counter Armor by use ability Rust Is countered by Rust (reduce -2 Armor of all enemy monsters) or Wizard of Eastwood's summoner ability.
6. Use Shatter ability - target's armor is destroyed when hit by an attack from Monsters with Shatter
7. Repair and Healing - As always, Repair and Healing serve 2 completely different functions, but in Armored Up, Repair works more effectively. Normally the Repair ability only works on monsters that had Armor to begin with. For example, I cannot repair the Armor on my Cursed Windeku because this card has no Armor. Whilst in Armored Up Ruleset, all monsters have at least 2 Armor. As a result Repair is more useful.
8. Repair Void Armor - if you use monster with Void Armor then you can repair it every turn.
9. Piercing - It is related to strategy above. If you expect your opponent to repair Armor each round, then you can use Piercing to be sure that your damage will get through Armor and damage Health.

Magic Spam - basic strategy

This strategy is to use as many magic attackers as it possible. If you face opponent without magic protect then victory is yours. The best summoner from Chaos Legion edition is Obsidian that gives +1 magic buff to all of your monsters. In addtion Armor protect your monster from all physical attacks.

High amount of Attack

Lots of players know that magic is very good in this Ruleset. You can suprise your opponent by placing monsters with mix attack: magic and melee. High amount of attack can even kill Baakjira as a tank. If you use double Sneak monsters then they can kill one monster by another each round. Why this strategu is sometimes good? Mainly, your opponent doesn't expect this lineup.

Phase and anti-magic

As you can see on the picture below, there are two standard tanks in this Ruleset: Djinn Oshanuss with Phase and Lobsdradmus with Magic Reflect. Both of them work very good in this Ruleset. You can easly put them in front position, then rest of the support team in the middle (slow, clean, heal etc.) to keep them alive for long time. If you have more mana to spend, then additional attack is very healpful.

Magic, phase and debuff

This is more advanced combo. When you combine all necessary abilities, then you get more advantage to win the battle. I used CHaos agent with Phase as a tank. On the second spot, there is Ooze with slow to make ma tank more effective (higher chance to dodge). At the backline there are two monster with magic and scavenger ability to increase they survability. My summoner is Thadius Brute wich debuff Health and Magic by 1. This is very effective lineup in low mana battles.

Rust

Rust reduces the Armor of all enemy Monsters by 2. It is opposite to Armor Up ability. You opponent usually want to take advantage from Armor, as a result he doesn't protect his team. You can use Rust ability and easly hit all his monsters directly. You can find full list of all Modern cards with Rust ability below. One of them has Rust at level 1, so you can use it even at bronze or silver league.
