While exploring the old streets of Belgrade’s streets, I found a little piece of peace. In one of the parks, I saw this old woman sitting on a little bench. She was reading some newspaper, and she looked so absorbed in the story that she didn’t seem to be aware of anything else around her. On the bench, she had a little pile of newspapers, and her eyes were fixed on one particular edition. I was so captivated by the peacefulness of the scene and the woman herself that I took a shot right then and there. You see, when you are a street photographer, you have to take pictures of the most authentic moments because they are gone forever the millisecond you take the shot. So, I captured this beautiful moment, and I have no idea what exactly the woman was reading about. Everything about her spoke of solitude and peace, two things that I think are very important for everyone to experience and nurture in their lives.
I think this photo turned out pretty well. The warm colorfulness of the picture communicates the feeling of an early spring day. At the same time, the black and white version conveys the message of a typical street photo journalist.
